Which day will be the most magical and meaningful?
There are a million other things to consider when preparing for a proposal, but luckily here are the best dates for a proposal.
1. Birthdays
Birthdays are the perfect day to celebrate an amazing proposal. It wouldn’t be suspicious if you decided to plan a spectacular getaway. Most people want to have a bit of pizzazz when it comes to their proposals. Thankfully, since it’s their birthday, you’ll be able to use that as an excuse as to why you want to take them on an amazing vacation. You can create a proposal straight out of a romantic novel.
If your significant other prefers something less extravagant, you can simply take them out to a birthday dinner and propose in the restaurant. You may even get free food alongside many rounds of applause from the other guests at the restaurant. Well, that is if they say yes of course.
If the love of your life doesn’t like either of those options, you can do something nice at home. You can decorate your home and make the environment incredibly cozy. A simple proposal can go a long way.
Do not, and I repeat, do not make the ring the only gift. That’s boring! Instead, you should give your lover at least one other gift that can lead up to the proposal. You can give them a photo album filled with all the memories you had together. This can then lead to a speech about how you’re so happy they’re in your life and how you want to spend the rest of your life with them.
If you really want to throw a curveball, propose on your birthday instead of their’s. It’ll show how much it means to you. You’re sharing an already special holiday with someone who means even more to you. Talk about romantic!
2. Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s day is arguably the most romantic day of the entire year. Couples snuggle up on sofas, Valentine’s Day cards are delivered from secret admirers, cute romantic comedy movies come out, it’s the perfect time for a proposal right? Well, yes it can be incredibly wonderful if you execute it properly. Luckily, we’re here to help you out so it becomes a day you all will never forget.
Surprise them. Tell them you bought tickets to a play or reserved the corner booth in your favorite restaurant. This won’t be surprising since it’s Valentine’s Day. Most people expect some romance here and there. Use this notion to your leverage.
Right before you arrive at the play or restaurant have a mariachi band or a flash mob emerge out of nowhere and start performing. Bonus points if the song that’s performed or danced to has a special meaning in your relationship. The key thing is to have that surprise factor. Your significant other should be shocked.
Make sure they are wearing an outfit they’d be happy being proposed to in. Thankfully, they should already be dressed up for your Valentine’s Day date, so this should be no problem. That’s one more reason to propose on this holiday.
3. New Year’s Eve
Most people kiss their lover when the clock strikes midnight on this day, but why not make things more extravagant and propose?
New Year’s Eve is that holiday that can go from practically meaningless to the most meaningful. On Christmas you’re roasting chestnuts with family and Thanksgiving Day you’re snacking on some Mac and Cheese. These holiday traditions almost never change, but New Year’s Eve is designated for friends and lovers. It’s a time for partying and toasting to the new year.
By proposing on New Year’s Eve you won’t have to worry about disrupting any holiday traditions your significant other might have.
New Years is the time to go big or to go home. There are numerous possibilities of how you can celebrate this holiday. You don’t need to worry about being too extravagant.
4. Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve is the most popular proposal day amongst men. Now, you may be thinking you aren’t original for proposing on this day but have no fear, it’s not about the date of the proposal, it’s about the actual proposal itself.
The winter holiday season is usually when people have the most paid work days off. It’s the perfect opportunity to take a vacation with your love interest. You can do a staycation or go abroad. Regardless of the destination, you can do something very unique.
Another positive to proposing on Christmas Eve is that you are most likely going to be visiting family or friends on Christmas or around that time. You can talk about your proposal and how happy you are to finally be engaged. It’s the perfect time to one-up your cousin who seemingly always has something to brag about. Not this time Cousin Bob, not this time.
5. Christmas Day
Santa Claus is bringing engagement rings this holiday season. Christmas is one of the most popular holidays celebrated in the entire world. It’s a time where family feuds are put aside and love is shared. It’s a time of warmth and magic which is why it’s the perfect time to propose.
You can make it a family event as well if family is very important to you all. There will typically be at least a few hours where the families will be together. You can celebrate this wonderful event with all of your family members present.
